How to style your LuLaRoe Madison skirt

How to style your LuLaRoe Madison

Y’all as I’m typing this the snow is coming down outside but for the love of cheese and grits, it is March and I’m going to show you how to style your Madison skirt because I’m ready for skirt weather. Especially skirts with pockets.

Who’s with me? This week in the shop I’m featuring the Madison. I just got some amazing new prints in and I can’t wait to show them to y’all.

How to style your LuLaRoe Madison

True story, the Madison was the first LuLaRoe skirt I ever bought. A skirt with pockets will get me every time. The Madison has pockets and box pleats just like the Amelia dress. Actually, the Madison is the bottom half of the Amelia dress. The waistband is meant to be worn right around your belly button.

As far as what shirts to wear with it, the Gigi is my go-to because it’s so easy to tuck in. I also love it with a Randy tucked in.

If you’re wanting a new twist on how to wear your Madison try it with an Amy knotted in the center. I unbuttoned the bottom button and tied the two flaps together.

I had the {perfect} Perfect T to go with this Madison so I figured out a way to turn my Perfect T into a fitted t.

It’s also fun to put a cropped shirt over the Madison instead of tucking it in. I’m loving this look as cropped tops are in right now. This fun one is from Target.

If you’re looking to add a Madison to your wardrobe be sure to check out the shop this week. I’ll be selling live twice and then wall dropping Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

Skirting the issue

LuLaRoe Tracy Vazquez, LuLaRoe Jill, LuLaRoe Lola, LuLaRoe Madison

It happens every year, I don’t know why it surprises me. {insert eye roll} Winter is here and honestly, it’s a fashion travesty because every cute outfit I want to wear is covered up by my stupid winter coat.

The struggle between fashion and comfort is so real and Y’all best believe I choose fashion every time but then again am I skirting the issue?

Here’s a Quick How to…

LuLaRoe Tracy Vazquez, LuLaRoe Jill, LuLaRoe Lola, LuLaRoe Madison

Thankfully, I live in a rather moderate climate so I have plenty of days where if I dress warmly enough, I don’t need a jacket. I’ve been really digging the chunky sweater trend because I can get away with throwing it on and leaving my jacket at home.

LuLaRoe Tracy Vazquez

If you live in a colder climate, throw on some fleece lined tights and you’re good to go. This gives my skirts a lot more rotation in my closet aka more bang for my buck.

LuLaRoe Tracy Vazquez

I also threw on a chunky sweater over my favorite Amelia. The pockets are still my favorite.

LuLaRoe Tracy Vazquez, LuLaRoe Amelia

This Amelia was one of my first ones and it’s still in my top 10 faves. I also love that almost 2 years later and I’m still finding ways to remix it. I have a rule that I won’t buy something unless I can find at least 3 ways to wear it.

LuLaRoe Tracy Vazquez, LuLaRoe Amelia

It also helps that mustard is my fave. I will wear it forever and ever amen. So many women I work with are afraid of it. Not just mustard, it could be some color they were told they couldn’t wear because of their skin tone or hair color. I have one thing to say to that: if you like it, wear it. If you want to wear mustard, just freaking do it! I promise there are not actual fashion police.

No one will arrest you for wearing what you want. I always say that I believe clothing can give you the power to live your best life. I feel confident, you will act confident. It’s a self-fulfilling prophecy. Many people have the misconception that they will wait for confidence and then do it but in actuality, you gain confidence by doing things that scare you. Fashion is just the beginning but it can empower you in all areas of your life. I know because I’ve seen it in my own life.

Maria, Maria

Maria, Maria, she reminds me of a West Side Story…

Maria, why you gotta do me like that? That ain’t my baby, that ain’t my girl…

My Maria ohhhh Maria…girl I love you….

How do you solve a problem like Maria…..

Maria, you’ve got to see her…

Repeat 100 times and you’ll be caught up with me.

I mean, how cute is she? I have to be honest, I was a little nervous after just seeing the stock photos that it would be too long or too tight around my stomach or catch on my butt.

But I’ve been dying to mix it up this winter so I figured it was worth a try. I’m learning to love every part of my body but there is still part of it that I don’t want to put on display. So I nervously put it on and immediately fell in love.

I personally love the length but if you’re nervous about it {I’m 5’5 for reference} you can belt it and blouse it over a little or try knotting it on the bottom. I’m always down for a good knot.

For size reference, I went with my Classic T size.

I added my favorite utility vest for an extra layer.

LuLaRoe Tracy Vazquez, LuLaRoe Maria

Mimi + Maria = perfection. The right amount of warmth and statement.

I love all of the different ways the Mimi can be styled.

I love this Joy with the leopard shoes. Don’t be afraid to throw several patterns together.

If you need more warmth pair it with a Sarah. Sarah’s always been, my homegirl.

I think my favorite way to style the Maria though is with one of our denim jackets. Both the Harvey and the Jaxon pair so well with them. If you’re looking to shop our jackets, click here

Elegant Holidays

LuLaRoe Elegant, LuLaRoe Tracy Vazquez

LuLaRoe Elegant, LuLaRoe Tracy Vazquez

Tis the season for getting fancy y’all, today I’m styling two LuLaRoe Elegant pieces. One of the pieces is vintage Elegant and the other is from this year’s release but I promise both of them are swoon worthy. I’m not usually a huge fan of glitter, I think it’s PTSD from crafting with kids while I was a teacher. This time of year though, I make an exception. I even put glitter on my nails because it’s fun and festive. I especially love all of the pieces from our Elegant collection which are sparkly, shiny and super festive.

LuLaRoe Lucy, LuLaRoe Tracy Vazquez

This skirt is the Lucy and I love how dramatic she is. I paired her with this fun ruffle shirt. I love that the shirt has long sleeves because I cannot do cold weather y’all. Grab a cute clutch and a pair of heels and you’re good.

LuLaRoe Lucy, LuLaRoe Elegant

The next look mixes a few trends together. The first being a lace top. I got this one here and then I put a black cami that I already had under it. It looks kind of weird on the hanger because it’s completely see through but I promise if you put a cami under it, you’ll love it

I promise I was not trying to flip anyone off…or am I? Kidding, I was just trying to hide the glitter container and hold my clutch all with one hand while I casually tucked my hair behind my ear.  #actnatural

Totally digging all of these textures together. Are you DYING over this skirt? It’s a Jill, normally they are pleated but with the Elegant collection they are in all different fabrics. I’m a fabric nerd but I don’t know what this material is called, if you do be sure to let me know in the comments. All I know is that it is freaking fabulous!

LuLaRoe Elegant, LuLaRoe Tracy Vazquez

So as I mentioned above, I’m not usually a huge fan of glitter and here is why. Let me set the scene for you, first it was 34 degrees and as you can see I am in short sleeves. Add to that the fact the morning of the shoot there were some sort of arctic winds so it was super windy. My rock star photographer Kellie wears her sweet baby while she shoots. So we wanted to make quick work of this particular photo because brrrr y’all. So we go to do the first glitter shot and a huge gust of wind comes through and throws the glitter all over me. Opposite of the effect we were going for. Repeat times five and goodbye glitter, goodbye shot. We were just trying to not cry from laughing so hard. The last shot we nailed it but I had to blow into the camera but that also meant into the baby that Kellie is wearing. So not only am I covered in glitter but so is Kellie and so is the baby. I swear it’s like sand at the beach, I wouldn’t be surprised if Kellie found glitter in Emmaline’s diaper. It brings “she leaves a little sparkle wherever she goes” to a whole new level. So glamorous y’all!

Let’s have a moment for these socks y’all. I saw this trend in Instyle earlier this fall and then again in the LuLaRoe Elegant collection photo shoot and I thought um wow, that’s a lot. Then the more I looked at it the more curious I got. Here’s the thing about fashion and trends, if it doesn’t make you a little uncomfortable then you’re not doing it right. Then I happened upon a pair at Target and I decided to give them a try. You can shop the socks here.

One time I had someone ask me how I got to be so confident. It was one of those situations where you look around you to make sure the person is talking to you. Um, I don’t know that I am confident. I just do things and then later realize I did it which makes me bolder the next time and so on and so forth. So I guess it’s just something that grows the more you take chances. I know that being bolder in my fashion choices has helped me feel more confident. I don’t always think that I am rocking something in the moment but I’ll look myself in the mirror, channel my inner Beyonce and just do the dang thing. It’s a mix of being stubborn and not wanting anyone to tell me what do to. You don’t think socks should be worn with high heels? Challenge accepted. I love that this look is not only festive but it also pushes me outside my comfort zone in the best way possible. I attended a Mad Men themed cocktail party a few weeks ago which was the perfect place to rock this outfit. I’m looking forward to finding ways to wear my Elegant all year long. What about you? How are you dressing for the holidays? Looking for some Elegant pieces to add to your wardrobe? You can shop them here

Styling the Amelia for the Holidays

How to style your LuLaRoe Amelia for the Holidays

The Christmas season is upon us. The stress of what to wear to work parties, church events and for family photos. I feel ya gf, it’s just one more thing to add to your already growing to do list. So, I’ve put together 2 different ways to style my Amelia. I know solid black Amelias are hard to come by but I still have a few left in my shop. Click here to join.

The first way is to layer a shirt under your Amelia, I know, right? Game changer! Since I wanted to be festive for this photo I picked a buffalo plaid but a chambray or other nice holiday plaid would do. I love how the collar comes out and lays on top of the dress.

LuLaRoe Tracy Vazquez

Thin belts have been my thing lately, especially this leopard print one. It adds just the right amount of pattern mixing without being too wild and crazy. I also love the pop of sparkle this statement necklace gives it. See that collar detail? Love it!

LuLaRoe Tracy Vazquez

Another trend I was dying to try is the neck scarf, so chic. And what better time to channel your inner Parisian than for your Christmas card?

LuLaRoe Amelia, neck scarf

I tried it tied up really short and tied with a longer tail. Which way do you like better?

LuLaRoe Tracy Vazquez, LuLaRoe Amelia

I added a touch of leopard with my clutch, I just love how it adds whimsy to the look.

Can we take a moment for these boots? I mean, I die! Sometimes LuLaRoe releases products to us consultants first, as a test market. They have been working on adding shoes for a while and it’s something that will be coming down the pipe. These are rose gold and slit on the sides. I also ordered a leopard pair. I’ve found in fashion that if I’m not a little uncomfortable at times, I’m not doing it right. These boots definitely push me outside my comfort zone in the best way possible. I never thought I’d wear a moto jacket but honestly it is one of my favorite things in my wardrobe. The same thing goes for these booties. I was wearing them the other day and a lady at TJ Maxx said I looked like a rock star. I’ll take it because honestly, I feel like a rock star in these shoes. So, stay tuned for more dets on our shoes.

Remember you are worthy and you are loved

Carly for fall

How to style your LuLaRoe Carly for Fall
LuLaRoe Carly by Tracy Vazquez
Tie your shirt around your waist

You guys fall is here that means leaves, pumpkins and cooler weather. Well if you’re from NC it means it’s cool in the morning and then you’re sweating by noon. So how’s a girl to dress? Layers of course. In this article I give you a few tips on how to style your LuLaRoe Carly for fall.

I love any excuse to layer all the things. If you’ve read my previous few posts, you’ll know that I like the rule of 3 when it comes to planning an outfit. Do I sound like a broken record yet? I mean it literally is in my head every time I think about what to wear and I promise if you start using it too, it will totally help you out!

3 pieces adds dimension to your outfit

I love the look of a flannel shirt over a Carly. In this look I also paired it with my Jaxon. I like the longer feel of the Jaxon but in a pinch you could do a cropped jacket like the Harvey too. It all depends on what you are comfortable in. I love how the colors in the button down shirt pull out the mustard in the Carly. When you’re pattern mixing like this you also want to make sure you stay in the same color family. A color family can be jewel tones, pastels, or primary colors. You also want to add a more organized pattern like the gingham with a more unpredictable pattern like the florals in this Carly.

Tying the shirt helps to define the waistline.

If it gets too hot for the jean jacket, you can take it off and tie a knot around your waist with the shirt. I like that it helps to give some definition to the Carly.

When it gets too hot for your flannel shirt you just tie that baby around your waist and keep on working it.

The pleats on the Jill add such great detail

Have you ever put on a skirt and just felt the urge to twirl like you did when you were a little girl? That’s how the Jill makes me feel. No matter the pattern, the feel of the skirt just makes me feel super feminine. Like all of our skirts, the Jill is meant to be worn a little higher waisted, like right around the belly button. Depending on the color of the waistband it can be hard to style it so I love that you have the option of turning the waistband in. Then you have more choices when it comes to a top to pair it with. When you do this, it also makes the skirt shorter which is good if you’re on the shorter side as the Jill can be a little long on you.

add a pop of leopard

I love putting a leopard belt with my Jills. Not only is leopard a neutral but it helps to define that waistline which is super flattering. I usually have a Classic T tucked in and then add accessories or layers as needed. I always apply the rule of 3 when getting dressed. The rule of 3, if you read my post on LuLaRoe Denim you’ll remember that you want to dress in odd numbers. So if I have on a Jill and a Classic T I will want to add a scarf or a jacket or a big statement jewelry piece. If you want to really step it up, try a Jill, a Classic T, a jacket, a scarf and a pair of statement earrings. I’ve been loving these.

Can we also talk about the pleats? They are so on trend right now, I promise you’ll see them a ton this holiday season. I’ve seen similar skirts to the Jill at high end retailers for over $100. These pleats are set by hand and they add such great texture to the skirt.

Denim dreams do come true LuLa Roe’s Harvey and Jaxon

Denim dreams do come true LuLa Roe’s Harvey and Jaxon

Have you ever tried something on and didn’t realize what you were missing in your life? Enter Harvey and Jaxon. They are the newest kids on the LuLaRoe block {high five for a 90’s reference} Our designer Patrick has really outdone himself this time. Usually denim is restrictive and suffocating. Not this denim, it’s stretchy and breathable. All I can say is that, dreams do come true and there

Harvey has a more traditional cut, I am wearing the XL in this photo. I can wear a M, L and XL because hello stretchy denim but prefer the fit of the XL the best. The denim comes in several variations, different washes from light to dark, colored denim and embroidery.

This is the lighter wash with embroidery. This one is also a size L. I mean this detail y’all! There are 2 inside pockets and the buttons have our logo on them. I mean, the cutest!

The Jaxon is a longer hem and looks super cute paired with our dresses and skirts. For size reference I am wearing a L. PS- I’m obsessed with the length of the Jaxon!

That stitching is the stuff of dreams ya’ll…denim dreams! This is done by hand, not a patch!

I love that I can layer it with dresses or over a Joy vest. I’m a big fan of the rule of 3 in fashion. The rule of three comes from art and implies that things that are grouped in odd numbers are more aesthetically pleasing. I keep this in mind when I am putting an outfit together. I would pair a top with a skirt and then throw on a denim jacket. I could add a necklace too but then I would also add statement earrings or a clutch or if I’m channeling my inner Joey, maybe a Joy vest too.

Okay maybe the Joey example is taking it a bit far, you don’t want to go overboard but don’t be afraid of adding those layers!
